BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The operator of a local organization allegedly zip-tied a suspected thief and he and his two sons beat the man about a 45-minute interval, inflicting “severe injuries,” according to sheriff’s officers.

John David Sparks, 50, Brenden Sparks, 23, and Trenton Sparks, 20, pleaded not responsible Monday to felony assault and untrue imprisonment with violence.

The incident happened early April 27 at Sparks Personalized Pools in the 6900 block of Meany Avenue, officers explained. Deputies named by John Sparks arrived to find the alleged burglar on the floor with his fingers zip-tied driving his back and accidents to his head and face.

The wounded person was taken to a healthcare facility and detectives took over the investigation.

They learned a video captured the alleged burglar coming into a fenced yard of the shut company and taking things from an unlocked car, according to a sheriff’s news release.

Alerted by the video, John Sparks drove to the business and chased the male to a nearby enterprise where by he fired a shot at him, according to sheriff’s officials. The guy laid on the ground.

The launch stated Sparks restrained the person with zip ties and his sons arrived soon afterward.

“Over the training course of approximately 45 minutes, John, alongside with his sons, punched, kicked and hit the suspect with blunt power objects leading to critical lacerations and accidents to the suspect’s confront and system,” the release explained.

The Sparks then positioned the gentleman in the bed of a pickup truck and drove him to the spot exactly where deputies arrived, officers stated.

They’re cost-free on bail and are owing again in courtroom June 22.

Officials claimed petty theft and trespassing costs are currently being sought from the alleged burglar.
